What is the difference from a heavy steel hangar?
Light steel uses cold-formed galvanised sections and is economical at moderate spans and light loads. Where spans grow, crane loads are carried or heavy equipment is suspended from the structure, pre-engineered or conventional steel becomes the appropriate system.
Can a hangar be insulated?
It can. Sandwich panel cladding provides thermal and, to a degree, acoustic insulation; the required thickness follows the intended use and climate. Uninsulated sheeting is used only where the space does not need to be conditioned.
Can a hangar be extended later?
Bolted light steel frames are suited to extension along the bay direction. The precondition is that the foundation and bracing layout were designed for the future bays; extending a structure that was not planned for growth usually requires strengthening.
