Frequently asked questions about single-family homes
Is a prefabricated house cheaper than a concrete one?
Comparing only the shell is misleading. Prefabricated construction shortens production and site time and reduces weather dependency, but site preparation, foundations, infrastructure and finishing works cost broadly the same in both systems. Total cost is driven by finish level rather than by the shell.
Can a house be produced to my own design?
It can. Standard types are faster and more economical, but plan and elevation can be adapted. Changes must be settled before production begins; alterations after the factory stage increase both time and cost significantly.
Can these houses be mortgaged and registered for occupancy?
For permanent buildings produced with a permit and in accordance with planning legislation, the process does not differ from a concrete building. Details vary by authority and lender, so confirm with the local authority and the bank before starting.
Do prefabricated houses need maintenance?
Like any building. The items to watch are roof and gutter cleaning, inspection of external cladding joints, and window and door seals. Regular maintenance is the single most concrete factor in the building's service life.
